Certificate of sponsorship or a work permit are one and the same
A Certificate of Sponsorship can also be known as a Work Permit. It can be allocated by an employer, an authorising officer or in some cases even a representative (a level one user) having access to the sponsorship management system and residing in the UK.
Once granted, an employer will also be given a reference number. The candidate can then apply for permission to enter or stay in the UK. However, an applicant cannot apply to enter the UK more than three months prior to their employment start date.
