Denmark Work Permit

Denmark Work Permit

If you are an EU, EEA or Nordic citizen, in the majority of cases you will not require a work permit for Denmark. If you have already entered Denmark based on a Family Reunification Visa or on humanitarian grounds then you will also not be required to hold a work permit.

There are a variety of different schemes available for skilled workers to obtain Work Permits in Denmark, for further information regarding these schemes please see below.

Corporate Scheme: This scheme allows companies to transfer essential employees and allow them to work in a subsidiary, parent or sister company for a specific duration.

Green Card Scheme: This permit is for highly qualified workers that wish to visit and gain full time employment in Denmark. If you are a religious worker, athlete, trainee or researcher there are also pathways solely designed for you to gain a visa under this scheme.

The Positive List: This list is a shortage occupation list and details the occupations that currently need filling in Denmark. Please note that diplomats, transport industry employees and some professional musicians or performing artists may be exempt from needing a Work Permit in order to work in Denmark. This is also true for some Turkish citizens.
